Tips for Deep Cleaning your Kitchen

Spring cleaning is right around the corner, and with the current state of the world & having extra time what better time than now to do a deep clean. Each room of your home will require specific cleaners & methods that we’re here to help with, while focusing today on the kitchen!

The Kitchen

It is recommended that you clean your kitchen top to bottom to avoid brushing dust onto already cleaned surfaces like your counters or stove top. We suggest starting with the very top of your cabinets! For your cabinets you will need,

  • A Vacuum with a hose
  • A bucket of warm soapy water (we recommend dish soap) & a sponge or rag
  • Furniture polish & rag

Once you have all your supplies follow the below steps,

  • Top of Cabinet Cleaning: If your cabinets do not go to the top of your ceiling, grab a vacuum with a detachable house and vacuum up any dust or cobwebs that may be lurking. Grab that bucket of soapy water and scrub the tops of the cabinets.
  • Inside Your Cabinets: Remove dishes & ensure they are clean, follow the same steps of washing the insides of your cabinets with the warms soapy water mixture. Dry with paper towel or a dry rag.
  • Cabinet Doors: Take the same steps by scrubbing with warm soapy water. If you have dark cabinets you may went to spray with a furniture/dust polish like pledge.

Your stove & oven are the next spot to hit! For this you will need,

  • A bucket of warm soapy water (we recommend dish soap) & a sponge or rag
  • Oven Cleaner & a sponge
  • Glass cleaner & paper towel or a rag
  • Baking Soda & a wet paper towel (flat top stove only)

Once you have your supplies start with the inside of the oven.

  • Inside of the Oven: Use your ovens self-cleaning feature if it has one (make note this often times can take up to a few hours, and has a very strong smell). If it does not, use an oven cleaner that will help remove grease like the one here.
  • Clean the Outside of the Oven: Clean the outside of your oven with your warm soapy water mixture, and clean the window of your oven with a glass cleaner.
  • Clean your Stove Top: If you have a glass flat top stove you will need to be careful with what you use to avoid ruining it. We recommend a light layer of baking soda wiped away with a wet warm paper towel. If you do not have a flat top stove make sure to remove the burners & utilize the same degreasing product that was used inside your oven.

Your bowl of vinegar & water will help to soften crusted on food left in your microwave & also absorb & eliminate odor.

  • Cleaning the Inside of Your Microwave: Take your water/vinegar mixture and boil in your microwave. Take this out of the microwave (careful it will be hot) and dump down the sink. Remove your rotating tray & clean in the sink with hot water & dish soap. Scrub the inside of your microwave down with a wet rag, or disinfecting wipe. Place your rotating tray back in the microwave after it is dry.
